The Folklore Dance is one of the most traditional dances in Syria. Not only do the men dance, they dance with swords and canes. It is somewhat like the Dabka but not quite.

Wow certainly a dance about dueling masculinity. It is quite the common theme for the feet and legs to be the feature in Middle Eastern dancing. I suppose this is to leave the hands open for holding which was seen in many Middle Eastern dance videos I looked at. Thinking about American group dancing there isnt much which can compare with the amount of physical contact in these dances. I suppose the conga line is as close as Americans are willing to get.
